CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral System

This light-touch technique works with the natural and unique rhythms of our craniosacral system to identify and correct the underlying source of the problem and dissolve restrictions.

The craniosacral system is a physiological system like our cardiovascular and respiratory systems. It provides the physical environment in which the brain and spinal cord develop and function in a bath of cerebrospinal fluid.

Complements Natural Healing

By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CranioSacral therapy is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

Patterns of Congestion

During the course of our lives our bodies become patterned, shaped and conditioned by our responses to stress and trauma. If stresses or traumas are overwhelming, they can become locked in the body as areas of congestion until such a time as we are able to access resources that allow us to process and release them.
Common causes of this congestion are physical injuries, emotional and psychological stresses, birth trauma and illness. When these stresses accumulate, our body tissues can become imprinted with the memory of unresolved experiences and, like videotape, may keep replaying whenever these memories are stimulated.
The emphasis of CranioSacral Therapy is to help resolve the trapped forces that underlie and govern patterns of disease and fragmentation in both body and mind. The practitioner “listens through the hands” to the body’s subtle rhythms to locate any patterns of congestion.

Intent

The intention of CranioSacral treatment is to release fascial restrictions and facilitate the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, and so enhance the body’s own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities. This procedure is non-invasive, as the practitioner gently encourages the body to release restrictions in the fascial membranes connecting to the craniosacral system.

Some of the conditions that have responded to CranioSacral Therapy are

Chronic neck and back pain
Head Trauma/injury
Headaches
TMJ – Temporomandibular joint disorder: jaw pain
Ear aches
Anxiety/depression
Tinnitus/dizziness
Insomnia
Pregnancy discomfort
Immune system concerns
Digestive problems
